My Story: From Biology Lab to Mountain Trails

Growing up in the rugged mountains of North Idaho, I always knew health wasn’t just a textbook thing—it was survival.

Several decades ago, with a freshly minted degree in Human Biology, I moved to the Seattle area to pursue my career. I bought a house started a family and mistakenly, dug blindly into the grind.

Life flashed by, and at the end of my 40s, I hit my breaking point.

I was unhappy in my career, and despite several years of therapy and effort, my marriage had come to an end after 23 years. That was when I realized, a bit too late, that it was all a trap.

As I walked out the haze of work, depression, and frustration that was my 30s and 40s, I made it my mission to live a different life, and even more importantly, to wake the men of the world up and let them know that they don’t have to grind in misery until they have a heart attack and die at 45, like my friend Kevin did.

When I’m Not Grinding Ink
